Pioneers of industrial automation

MAR - A company with tradition

The beginnings

Marine- und Automatisierungstechnik Rostock GmbH, also known as MAR, has been successfully providing innovative and economical solutions for its customers since its founding in 1996. The company's founder Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Markert, who has since retired, and the former managing partners Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Schau and Dipl.-Ing. Dietmar Schedler, together with the engineers, software developers and technicians employed here, have established a competence center for cross-sector industrial automation, production management systems and maritime systems in northern Germany.

Since 2020, the company has been managed by the managing directors Dipl.-Ing. Roman König, M. Sc. Kristian Richter and and Dipl. Betrw. (ils) Michael Schmidt.

Since September 2019, MAR has been at home under the umbrella of the SEAR Group in Hundsburgallee in Rostock, from where it serves customers throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and Central America.

Strategic partnership

In order to be able to offer an even broader range of services and expand its customer base, MAR entered into a strategic partnership with SEAR, a Rostock-based company specializing in energy, building and industrial technology, at the beginning of 2014.

Both companies have already cooperated with each other on many occasions in the past and, thanks to the merger, will be able to offer their customers innovative and cost-effective solutions in the long term.

Since 01.01.2019 SEAR GmbH is the sole shareholder of MAR GmbH.

  • The ten guiding principles for honorable merchants adopted by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 2012 are an important guideline for our actions.
